(Translation: Republic of Chile worth for Fifty Pesos Convertible into gold by the State in accordance of the Law Santiago, December 16, 1899.)
Reverse description Printed in red-orange, the reverse is composed entirely of elaborate guilloche lathe-work arranged in a bilaterally symmetrical layout. Large numeral «50» appears within oval medallions of dense engine-turned ornament at each side, while the country name «REPÚBLICA DE CHILE» is set in a central cartouche flanked by interlocking geometric bands. The printer's imprint «American Bank Note Co. New-York» appears in small type at the lower margins.
