Two circular official ink stamps of the República de Honduras appear to the left and right of the arms, while ornate floral and scroll borders frame the left and right margins. Below the arms, the denomination inscription VALE CINCUENTA PESOS is set in bold letterpress, with the authorising decree line Por el decreto de 19 de Julio de 1862 below, followed by three manuscript signature lines corresponding to El Contador Mayor, El Ministro de Hacienda, and El Tesorero General. |

The Estado de Honduras issues of the early 1860s are among the rarest surviving paper obligations from Central American state governments of that period. Honduras had no functioning central bank in 1862 — these notes were issued directly by the state during a period of chronic fiscal instability and near-constant political turbulence under successive short-lived administrations.
Pick 6H is known in only a handful of examples. The survival rate for Honduran state paper from this decade is exceptionally poor, partly due to humid tropical storage conditions and partly because redemption was often never formally organized.
