Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Bernardo O'Higgins, Chilean independence leader and founding patron of the Escuela Militar, rendered in high relief with finely detailed military uniform and naturalistic curled hair. The name BERNARDO O'HIGGINS appears in two lines to the right of the portrait in the field. The circumferential legend SESQUICENTENARIO · DE · LA · ESCUELA · MILITAR runs along the upper periphery, while the commemorative dates · 1817 - 1967 · are inscribed along the lower rim, all within a continuous beaded border.
