Reverse description A composite allegorical design celebrating Spanish industrial and agricultural progress, featuring stylized electrical pylons and industrial towers, wheat ears symbolizing agricultural wealth, residential buildings, and a cogwheel representing industry. The denomination 50 PTAS appears prominently in the field, with a star below containing the two-digit mint year 64, identifying this as a 1964-dated striking of the 1957 type. The overall composition reflects the economic development iconography associated with the 25 Years of Peace commemorative issue.

Additional information

The "25 Years of Peace" coinage was Franco's most explicit attempt to reframe the Civil War's legacy — not as a wound but as a founding moment, with 1939 cast as year zero of a prosperous new Spain. This pattern piece preceded the circulating issue, which ultimately appeared in aluminum-bronze rather than copper-nickel. The composition change was partly economic, partly aesthetic: the warmer alloy photographed better on propaganda material.

Aureo catalogues this as pattern 131, one of several trial strikes in different metals tested before the final specification was fixed.
