Beschrijving keerzijde Colorized scene inspired by E.H. Shepard's classic illustrations for Kenneth Grahame's 'The Wind in the Willows', depicting the boastful Mr. Toad at the wheel of a motor car, rendered in full color, flanked by two figures in pursuit. Speed lines in the background convey rapid motion. The legend 'HO! HO! I AM THE TOAD' arcs across the upper field, and the attribution 'The Wind in the Willows © E.H. Aanvullende informatie

Ascension Island, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic with a permanent population of under a thousand, issues collector coins through agreements with the Royal Mint and allied producers — giving its name to pieces that will never circulate there in any meaningful sense. This is one of those issues. Kenneth Grahame's 1908 novel provides the subject matter; the coin's connection to Ascension Island is purely jurisdictional.
