| 裏面の説明 | A dynamic design by Natasha Ratcliffe depicts a wheelchair rugby player in full competitive posture, propelling a specialist sports chair across the field while retaining possession of the ball. The official London 2012 Paralympic Games logo is prominently positioned in the upper field. The denomination 50 PENCE appears in the lower field, with the inscription LONDON 2012 PARALYMPIC GAMES disposed around the design, all rendered in crisp proof relief against a mirror-polished field. |

Issued as part of the Royal Mint's extended Paralympic Games series ahead of London 2012, this piece is one of twenty-nine 50 pence designs released between 2009 and 2011 — the largest number of circulating coin designs ever produced for a single commemorative programme by the Royal Mint. The gold proof strikes were produced in strictly limited numbers against a base issue in cupro-nickel that did see genuine circulation, an unusual pairing that makes the bullion-tier version something of an afterthought commercially but a sharp contrast in survivorship.
