| Reverse description | A Viking longship in full sail occupies the centre of the field, depicted in finely engraved detail with a diamond-patterned sail, a row of round shields along the gunwale, oars, and a pennant at the masthead. Elaborate interlaced Norse knotwork ornaments flank the vessel on both sides and forms a decorative band across the upper field. Below the ship, a stylised wave pattern rendered in Norse interlace separates the vessel from the denomination '50', which appears in large numerals at the base flanked by further knotwork motifs. The overall design, executed by Leslie Lindsay, reflects the strong Viking heritage of the Isle of Man. |
