| Beschrijving keerzijde | Three Supermarine Spitfire aircraft are depicted in formation flight across the upper field, evoking the Victory in Europe (VE Day) aerial commemorations. Below, the iconic dome and towers of St. Paul's Cathedral in London are rendered in detailed relief, symbolising the resilience of the city during the Second World War. A large circular motif occupies the centre foreground, through which the cathedral's architecture is visible. The denomination legend 'FIFTY PENCE' arcs along the upper border in raised lettering. |

The Isle of Man has issued commemorative coinage under its own authority since 1973, and its prolific use of precious-metal proofs for anniversary subjects has made the Pobjoy Mint — its longtime striking partner — one of the busiest producers of British Crown dependency commemoratives in the world. VE Day fell on 8 May 1945, marking Germany's unconditional surrender after nearly six years of war in Europe. The 75th anniversary in 2020 was observed under the shadow of COVID-19 lockdowns, meaning virtually all planned public commemorations were cancelled — the coins became the commemoration itself.
