Beschrijving keerzijde Within a central circular cartouche, a bareheaded portrait of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, depicted in an informal, uncrowned style with curled hair and a pearl earring, set against a detailed rendering of a tree house elevated among foliage to the left. Large stylised leaves, forming a decorative canopy, occupy the upper field of the coin beyond the cartouche border. The incuse inscription THE GOLDEN JUBILEE arcs along the lower portion of the field, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the Queen's accession.

Aanvullende informatie

The 2002 Falkland Islands commemorative program coincided with Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee, and several pieces in the series were struck in both cupro-nickel and sterling silver variants — the .925 silver striking catalogued here as KM#84a.2 being the collector issue. The Falklands' use of British commemorative anniversaries was never merely ceremonial; the islands' political relationship with the Crown carried genuine weight after 1982, when the question of British sovereignty was settled by force rather than diplomacy.
