| Additional information |
Guernsey has issued commemorative 50 pence pieces under its own authority since 1969, when the bailiwick gained the right to produce its own coinage following the Decimal Currency Act. This Santa issue is one of several holiday-themed 50p pieces released by the island in 2022, a practice that generates meaningful revenue through collector sales rather than circulation — most pieces in this series never see a cash register.
