Obverse description The obverse features the second-portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, as designed by Arnold Machin, depicted with a diademed and draped bust. The queen's hair is elegantly styled beneath a tiara, with fine detail rendered in high relief befitting the proof finish. The legend 'ISLE OF MAN' arcs along the left periphery and 'ELIZABETH II' along the right, following the heptagonal border of the coin. The date '1982' appears in the lower exergue, with the small Pobjoy Mint mark ('PM') visible to its left at the base of the portrait.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a dynamic scene of a helmeted motorcycle racer leaning aggressively into a curve on a racing machine numbered '10', capturing the speed and drama of the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races. The composition is framed on either side by olive or laurel branches extending from the lower field, evoking a traditional prize or victory motif. The abbreviation 'TT' is prominently placed in the upper field above the central design. The denomination '50' is inscribed in bold numerals at the lower centre, below the racing scene. The design, engraved by Leslie Lindsay, combines detailed mechanical and figural elements against a smooth proof field.
