Additional information

Gibraltar's Royal commemorative output is prolific to the point of controversy among collectors — the territory has issued dozens of 50 pence pieces marking British Royal family milestones since the 1990s, many with limited secondary market demand. The selective gold ink application here is a post-strike printing process, not plating or gilding, a technique Gibraltar adopted for several issues in this period to differentiate variants within the same release.

The wedding itself took place on 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey, watched by an estimated 300 million television viewers globally.
