Reverse description Central depiction of the Sovereign's Orb, one of the principal pieces of the British Crown Jewels used in the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The orb is rendered in fine detail, showing the jewelled band (the amound) encircling the lower hemisphere, decorated with ornate gemstone settings and beaded borders. Above the globe rises the distinctive cross pattée surmounting an arch, all faithfully reproduced in relief against a mirror-polished proof field. The denomination legend 'FIFTY PENCE' arcs across the upper field flanking the cross.
