Guernsey's coin program has long exploited the island's World War II occupation history for commemorative purposes, but the Chieftain has no connection to that chapter — it was the British Army's main battle tank from 1966 through the mid-1990s, seeing export service with Iran under the Shah before the 1979 revolution abruptly terminated that contract and left hundreds of undelivered hulls in limbo. The KM# 247b designation indicates this gold-plated copper version is one of several finish variants struck from the same dies.
