Beschrijving voorzijde The fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, occupies the centre of the obverse, depicting the monarch in right-facing profile bust, crowned with the George IV State Diadem and wearing a drop earring. The portrait is rendered with fine sculptural detail characteristic of the Clark effigy introduced in 2015. The peripheral legend reads ELIZABETH II · DEI · GRA · REG · FID · DEF · with the date 2019 distributed around the upper arc of the heptagonal field. The engraver's initials J.C. appear incuse below the truncation of the bust.

Aanvullende informatie

The 2007 regular-issue 50p commemorating the centenary of the Scouting movement — designed by Claire Aldridge — became one of the most publicly voted-upon coin designs in Royal Mint history, selected through a competition open to Scout members themselves. The 2019 gold piedfort revisits that same design a dozen years on, issued as part of the Mint's ongoing premium restrike program rather than to mark any new anniversary.

Piedforts double the standard planchet thickness, a French tradition dating to the 16th century originally used to produce presentation pieces for dignitaries.
