| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued the same year Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon turned 80, this Falkland Islands commemorative preceded the Argentine invasion by less than two years — making it one of the last pieces struck under uncomplicated British administration of the territory. The Queen Mother had no particular connection to the islands, but her milestone birthday served colonial mints well as a reliable commemorative hook throughout the Commonwealth in 1980.
KM#15a is the silver proof variant of a base-metal circulation issue, distinguished by the .925 fineness and proof finish rather than any design difference.
