Beschrijving voorzijde Fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, engraved by Jody Clark, depicted as a right-facing draped bust wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, drop earrings, and a pearl necklace. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II flanks the effigy along the upper arc, with ISLE OF MAN continuing to the right, all in raised Latin lettering. The date 2017 appears in the lower exergue, flanked by two raised dots. The engraver's initials JC are visible at the base of the truncation.

Aanvullende informatie

The Isle of Man has long operated as one of the more prolific commemorative issuers within the British Isles, with the Pobjoy Mint producing a substantial volume of limited royal event coinage through the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Elizabeth II and Prince Philip married on 20 November 1947 at Westminster Abbey — the first major royal public ceremony broadcast on BBC radio to an audience of over 200 million worldwide. Their 2017 platinum anniversary marked 70 years of marriage, a duration unmatched by any previous British monarch.

This piece is one of several issues in the multi-coin series commemorating that anniversary.
