Issued to mark Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee — seventy years on the throne, a record no British monarch had previously reached — Jersey produced several variants of this commemorative, with the selectively gold-plated silver-finish piece occupying the middle tier of a deliberately tiered product range. The "Veritas" reverse design was one of four allegorical themes released across the jubilee 50p series, each assigned a Latin virtue.
Jersey, as a Crown dependency rather than part of the United Kingdom, issues its own coinage independently through the States of Jersey, though all bear the monarch's effigy by convention.
