Reverse description A bold, stylised numeral '70' dominates the field, rendered in contrasting frosted and polished finishes to create a striking two-tone effect. Positioned within the right-hand curve of the '0' is the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II — the interlaced 'E II R' surmounted by the St. Edward's Crown. Below the cypher, the commemorative dates '1952–2022' are inscribed, marking the span of the Platinum Jubilee reign. The engravers' initials 'AR DO' appear in the lower exergue.

Additional information

The Platinum Jubilee issue marked 70 years of Elizabeth II's reign — the longest of any British monarch and the only platinum jubilee in British history. She died on 8 September 2022, just months after this coin entered production, making it among the final commemorative issues authorised during her lifetime rather than posthumously in her memory.
