The Platinum Jubilee marked Elizabeth II's 70th year on the throne — the longest reign in British history and the only one to reach that threshold. The Royal Mint issued an extensive range of commemorative pieces for the occasion in early 2022, though Elizabeth II died in September of that year, making the entire jubilee series her final commemorative coinage.
Piedfort production doubles the standard blank thickness before striking, a French technique revived by the Royal Mint in 1982 for collector issues. At 31g in 22-carat gold, this piece carries substantially more intrinsic metal than the standard jubilee releases.
