| Obverse description | Right-facing truncated effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a tiara and draped costume, as designed by Arnold Machin. The legend ELIZABETH THE SECOND arcs peripherally around the upper field, divided across both sides of the heptagonal flan. The date 1980 appears in the lower exergue, flanked by two raised dots, with the Pobjoy Mint mark (PM) visible in small lettering beneath the truncation. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. |

| Reverse description | A detailed depiction of Odin's Raven, a Viking longship with a richly ornamented sail bearing interlaced knotwork decoration, occupies the centre of the field. The prow is carved in the form of a dragon's head, and the hull is rendered with fine detail including a shield rail along the gunwale. The Point of Ayre Lighthouse appears in the right background field. The legend ISLE OF MAN arcs along the upper periphery, with FIFTY PENCE running along the left side, and the inscription DAY OF TYNWALD / JULY 5th appears in two lines in the lower exergue. |
