| 裏面の説明 | Right-facing bare-headed portrait bust of Prince Philip, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, rendered in fine engraved relief against a deeply recessed field. The effigy captures the subject in later life with fine detail in the facial features and hair. The commemorative legend IN MEMORIAM is inscribed along the upper left periphery, and FIFTY PENCE along the upper right periphery, flanking the portrait. A small engraver's initial mark is visible at the lower left of the bust truncation. |

The Isle of Man has long issued commemorative 50 pence pieces outside the mainstream Royal Mint program, giving the Manx government latitude to produce tributes the UK itself would not strike. This piece honoring Prince Philip was almost certainly issued in anticipation of — or response to — his death in April 2021 at age 99, part of a broader wave of Manx memorial coinage that flooded the market that year.
Philip held the title Duke of Edinburgh from 1947 until his death, a tenure of nearly 74 years — the longest any person has held that specific dukedom.
