| Reverse description | Detailed depiction of the elaborately carved stern of HMS Victory, Nelson's famous First Rate ship of the line, rendered in fine relief by engraver Chris Lloyd. The multi-tiered stern galleries with their characteristic rows of gunports and decorative scrollwork dominate the central field, with diagonal spars and rigging visible to the upper left. To the lower right, the ship's badge bearing the inscription 'HMS VICTORY' appears within a shield-shaped cartouche. The denomination legend 'FIFTY PENCE' arcs along the upper border, while the name 'VICTORY' is inscribed in raised letters along the lower stern gallery, all framed within a rope-twist inner border. |
