Aanvullende informatie

Guernsey issues commemorative 50 pence pieces with remarkable frequency, and the market is saturated with them. This one marks Elizabeth II's position as head of the House of Windsor — the dynastic name adopted in 1917 by George V, who quietly dropped the family name Saxe-Coburg and Gotha under considerable public pressure during the First World War, when anything German had become politically untenable. The renaming was largely a rebranding exercise, but it stuck.

Elizabeth II died on 8 September 2022, making this among the final Guernsey issues struck in her name.
