Issued to mark the centenary of Girlguiding receiving its Royal Charter in 1919, which granted the organisation formal recognition under Olave Baden-Powell's early leadership — she had become Chief Guide just two years prior. The Royal Mint produced this in the standard 22-carat proof specification used across its commemorative 50p gold program, with mintage figures kept deliberately low to sustain collector premiums.
