Reverse description The reverse presents a boldly rendered depiction of the Falcon of the Plantagenets, one of the Queen's Beasts, shown as a large bird of prey perched with wings spread wide in a heraldic display. The falcon stands upon a shield bearing the arms associated with the Plantagenet royal house, with a smaller falcon displayed upon the escutcheon and a fetterlock device at its base. The date 2021 is divided by the bird's head at the top of the design, flanked by decorative stops, while the legend FALCON OF THE PLANTAGENETS curves around the lower periphery. The engraver's initials JC appear in the lower right field. The frosted relief of the central device contrasts dramatically with the polished mirror field, characteristic of a high-quality proof striking.
