Additional information

Tristan da Cunha, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic with a permanent population of roughly 250 people, has issued commemorative coinage since the 1950s largely as a revenue source rather than for circulation. The 2012 Diamond Jubilee pieces were produced by the Pobjoy Mint, which holds the contract for most Tristan coinage and has supplied the island's numismatic output for decades.

Gold-plated copper issues of this type were produced alongside solid gold and silver variants at different price points. The KM# 101 designation distinguishes the diadem portrait from at least one other obverse used in the same jubilee series.
