Jersey issued a wave of commemorative 50 pence pieces for the Diamond Jubilee, and this gold-plated steel example sits in the lower tier of that release program — a circulation-friendly souvenir rather than a bullion or proof offering. The plating on these is notoriously thin, and examples that actually passed through hands show wear through to the steel substrate at the high points faster than any conventional cupronickel piece would.
