Issued to mark Elizabeth II's 75th birthday in 2001, this is one of dozens of commemorative 50 pence pieces the Falkland Islands produced throughout her reign — a revenue stream the islands leaned on heavily given their small domestic economy. The Pobjoy Mint struck the majority of Falklands commemoratives during this period under contract.
