| 背面描述 | The reverse depicts the full coat of arms of Saint Helena, featuring a crowned shield bearing a sailing ship on the lower half and a rocky outcrop above, supported by a wirebird (Saint Helena plover) on the left and a dolphin on the right. Rising above the shield as a crest is a half-length figure of a woman holding a flower in each hand, flanked by scrolling foliage and decorative supporters. A ribbon at the base of the shield bears the motto LOYAL & UNSHAKEABLE. The commemorative circular legend reads 150th. ANNIVERSARY: COLONY OF ST. HELENA around the upper arc, with the dates 1834 and 1984 flanking the lower portion of the design. |

Saint Helena's 1984 coinage program coincided with the island's transition from a dependency administered under the Saint Helena Act 1833 to a revised constitutional framework — the island retained its status as a Crown Colony while surrounding territories were renegotiated under British overseas policy. Issues of this period were struck for genuine circulation on an island of fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, meaning surviving examples in circulated grades are less common than the mintage figures suggest: a small population with limited commercial activity still handled these coins hard.
