| Beschrijving voorzijde | Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Raphael David Maklouf, depicting the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace with earring, her hair styled in flowing curls. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left periphery, GIBRALTAR along the upper right, and the date 2006 appears at the lower right, all in incuse Latin lettering against a mirror-polished field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Gibraltar's annual Christmas 50p series, running since 1995, has occupied an odd commercial niche — legal tender issues aimed squarely at the collector market rather than circulation, produced in small proof runs for the Royal Mint's network of overseas territory contracts. The 2006 issue falls mid-series, before the programme's gradual wind-down in the early 2010s.
Schön 1289a distinguishes the silver proof from the base-metal circulation strike, both sharing the same dies.
