| Reverse description | Central oval frame encloses a detailed nativity scene depicting the Virgin Mary, the Christ Child in the manger, Saint Joseph, and attending figures, rendered in a style reminiscent of stained glass or relief engraving. The scene is surrounded by decorative holly sprigs at regular intervals around the heptagonal field. The inscription CHRISTMAS arcs across the upper portion of the coin above the central medallion, while the denomination 50 appears in the lower field below the oval frame. |

| Additional information |
The Isle of Man's Christmas 50 pence series, running annually from 1980, was among the first regular coin programs to treat a holiday theme as a recurring collectible format rather than a one-off commemorative. By 1993 the series had developed a dedicated following, and the silver proof strikes were produced in deliberately limited quantities for that market. The Pobjoy Mint, which has struck virtually all Manx coinage under contract since 1973, handled production.
