Additional information

The Isle of Man's Christmas 50 pence series, running annually from 1980, was among the first regular coin programs to treat a holiday theme as a recurring collectible format rather than a one-off commemorative. By 1993 the series had developed a dedicated following, and the silver proof strikes were produced in deliberately limited quantities for that market. The Pobjoy Mint, which has struck virtually all Manx coinage under contract since 1973, handled production.
