Obverse description Right-facing couped portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, executed in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field. The legend arcs around the upper periphery, with the date positioned below the truncation. The portrait follows the Raphael Maklouf third definitive effigy as used on Isle of Man coinage from 1985.

Reverse description A lively Edwardian Christmas street scene dominates the heptagonal field, depicting a vintage motor bus marked 'DOUGLAS' at centre, surrounded by groups of standing figures in period dress engaged in festive activities. Shop facades and architectural details recede into the background, lending depth to the composition. A small Manx cat or squirrel motif appears at the lower foreground. The word CHRISTMAS arcs boldly across the upper field, and the denomination numeral 50 is incused prominently at the base.
