| Beschrijving keerzijde | Colourised scene depicting The Snowman and James in flight, based on the beloved animated characters from Raymond Briggs' illustrated story. The Snowman is shown in white with characteristic scarf and hat, carrying James who is dressed in his distinctive orange and yellow striped pyjamas against a wintry background of snow and trees. The legend CHRISTMAS arcs across the upper field, with the inscriptions 'The Snowman' to the left and 'and James' to the right of the figures. The denomination 50 appears prominently in the lower field, with the Pobjoy Mint mark visible nearby. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Isle of Man has issued colourised circulating coinage since the 1980s, well ahead of most other jurisdictions — a product of the Pobjoy Mint's early investment in surface-applied colour technology. This 2003 Christmas issue is part of an annual series the island has maintained for decades, making the Isle of Man one of the few territories where seasonal coinage was a genuine calendrical tradition rather than a one-off commemorative gesture. Pobjoy retained the Manx coinage contract from 1973 until 2016.
