| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, drop earrings, and a pearl necklace, as designed by Raphael David Maklouf. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the hair and crown ornamentation. The legend ELIZABETH II curves along the left rim, while GIBRALTAR · 1997 arcs along the right rim.
