Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of the Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea Flower Show, this Falkland Islands piece belongs to a wave of commemorative 50 pence coins that circulated through British Overseas Territories in the early 2000s. The RHS had been staging the Chelsea show since 1913, though the Society itself dates to 1804. Falkland Islands commemoratives of this period were produced at the Pobjoy Mint in Surrey, which held the territory's minting contract for decades.
