A lion is couched at her feet, reinforcing the emblematic imagery of British sovereignty. The design, engraved by Christopher Ironside, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the decimal 50 pence coin introduced in 1969. The legend NEW PENCE 50 appears with flanking letters A through G, along with privy marks positioned to the right of the denomination and on the rim. |
