Aanvullende informatie

Alderney, a small British Crown dependency in the Channel Islands, was the only part of the British Isles to be fully evacuated and subsequently occupied by German forces during World War II — a fact that lends its commemorative issues on the Battle of Britain a geographic irony most collectors overlook. The island itself fell in June 1940, the same summer the Luftwaffe began its campaign against RAF Fighter Command.

The "Radar" designation in this series refers to the Chain Home network, Britain's early-warning system that gave Fighter Command its critical edge in directing interceptors before enemy formations crossed the coast.
