Part of Guernsey's fourteen-coin series commemorating the 150th anniversary of Jules Verne's 1872 novel, this piece marks Allahabad — now officially renamed Prayagraj by the Uttar Pradesh state government in 2018 — as one of Phileas Fogg's key stops along the Indian subcontinent leg of the journey. Verne himself never visited India; his geography came almost entirely from reference books and newspaper accounts, which explains several of the novel's geographical liberties.
