| 背面描述 | Central design featuring a cogwheel as the primary motif, symbolising Turing's foundational contributions to computing and mechanical logic. The background is populated with a matrix of letters and characters evoking binary and computational imagery, referencing the theoretical frameworks of Alan Turing's work. The inscription ALAN TURING is prominently placed within the design, serving as the principal legend. The composition, designed by Matthew Dent and Christian Davies, integrates typographic and mechanical elements in a modern numismatic style. |

Issued to mark the centenary of Turing's birth — he was born in 1912 — this coin arrives some seven decades after the British government chemically castrated him as punishment for gross indecency. He died in 1954, ruled a suicide by cyanide poisoning, though the circumstances have never been definitively settled. A royal pardon came only in 2013, under the Crime (Sentences) Act, after years of public campaigning.
The Royal Mint placed this in its 50p silver proof program alongside other commemorative issues that year. Mintage figures for the silver proof version were capped, as is standard practice for the format.
