Guernsey's position in the VE Day narrative is not ceremonial — the island was the only British territory occupied by Nazi Germany during the war, liberated on 9 May 1945, a day still observed locally as Liberation Day. That date is distinct from the 8 May VE Day celebrated elsewhere in Britain, a difference the island has always been careful to maintain.
The six KM references indicate this was issued as a numbered series rather than a single coin, a format Guernsey has leaned on heavily in the commemorative market since the 1990s.
