Reverse description A scientifically informed reconstruction of an Iguanodon dinosaur dominates the field in bold relief, depicted in a semi-bipedal posture facing left, with its characteristic thumb spike visible on the right forelimb. Prehistoric flora — including a cycad frond and seed cone to the right, and a horsetail plant to the left — flank the central figure, evoking the Early Cretaceous environment. The name IGUANODON arcs across the upper field, while the legend MANTELL 1825, commemorating the palaeontologist Gideon Mantell and the year of the species' formal description, appears along the lower periphery. The engraver's initials RN appear discreetly in the lower right field. The overall design is the work of palaeo-artist Robert Nicholls.
