Obverse description The fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Jody Clark, occupies the centre of the obverse, depicting a right-facing crowned and draped bust of the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem and a drop earring. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 50 PENCE · 2021 ·, distributed around the heptagonal field. The engraver's initials J.C appear in small relief below the truncation of the bust. The design is rendered in a refined, naturalistic style characteristic of Clark's portrait work for the Royal Mint.
