| Aversbeschreibung | Fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, modelled by Jody Clark, depicting the monarch wearing the George IV State Diadem and draped robes. The sovereign's initials 'J.C' appear on the truncation. The denomination '50 PENCE' and date '2022' are incorporated into the surrounding Latin legend, which reads 'ELIZABETH II·D·G·REG·F·D·50 PENCE·2022'. |

| Reversbeschreibung | The reverse, designed by Natasha Preece, features the official logo of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games: a stylised row of five chevron-like forms evoking athletes in motion, set against a geometric floral lattice background filling the upper field. Three of the central motifs are rendered in colour — red, yellow, and blue — representing the Commonwealth Games spirit, while the outer two remain in silver relief. The designer's initials 'N.P' appear to the right within the field. Below the emblem, the inscriptions 'BIRMINGHAM 2022' and 'COMMONWEALTH GAMES' are arranged in two lines, with a small Scottish thistle privy mark centred beneath. |

| Zusätzliche Informationen |
The four 2022 Commonwealth Games 50p coins — one for each of the home nations — were issued ahead of Birmingham hosting the Games that summer, the first time England had hosted since 2002. Scotland's entry in the set is the only one of the four that required the Royal Mint to navigate a distinct heraldic tradition entirely separate from English precedent. Birmingham 2022 was notable for permanently dropping shooting and archery while adding women's cricket for the first time in Commonwealth Games history.
