| 裏面の説明 | Standing allegorical figure of Britannia rendered in right-facing profile, a shield borne upon her left shoulder and a spear raised over her right shoulder, evoking themes of maritime sovereignty. A sailing ship is depicted in the background field, reinforcing the nautical symbolism. The inscriptions denoting the metal content, fineness, date, and the name BRITANNIA are distributed around the design, with the engraver's initials A.D. present in the field. |

The fifth portrait of Elizabeth II — by Jody Clark, adopted in 2015 — was the first Royal Mint portrait since Raphael Maklouf's 1985 effigy to be developed entirely in-house rather than commissioned from an outside sculptor. Its introduction onto bullion and collector silver coincided with a broader repackaging of the Royal Mint's retail precious metals program, which had expanded aggressively after the Mint's conversion to a limited company in 2009.
Sp#BSD16 places this within the Britannia bullion series lineage, though the 50p denomination on a quarter-ounce silver blank is a collector fiction — no arithmetic connects face value to metal content.
