| Beschrijving keerzijde | A stylised linear depiction of a weightlifter occupies the centre of the field, rendered in an abstract graphic style by designer Rob Shakespeare, capturing the athlete mid-lift with the barbell raised. The official London 2012 Olympic Games logo, incorporating the Olympic rings, appears in the upper field. The denomination '50 PENCE' is inscribed in bold capital letters along the lower periphery, and the legend 'london 2012' appears above the central device in smaller lettering. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
One of 29 individual sport designs released by the Royal Mint for the London 2012 Olympics, each denomination in the series depicting a different discipline. The programme was unprecedented in British coinage — no previous Olympic host nation had issued a collector series at this scale using a single circulating denomination. Most pieces entered general circulation alongside the standard 50p, making the weightlifting design one of the harder sports to pull from change by 2012.
