| 背面描述 | Boldly styled left-facing helmeted bust of Britannia, engraved by Philip Nathan, rendered in a modern, dynamic composition. The figure is dramatically overlaid with a large stylised wave motif, evoking Britannia's maritime dominion. The design employs sweeping lines and high relief to create a striking contrast between the classical subject and its contemporary artistic treatment. The legend BRITANNIA appears to the left of the field, with the denomination QUARTER OUNCE FINE SILVER and the date 2003 inscribed vertically to the right. |

The 2003 date places this piece within the Royal Mint's Britannia bullion series, relaunched in silver in 1997 partly to compete with the Canadian Maple Leaf and American Eagle in the international bullion market. The .958 fineness — matching traditional Britannia silver rather than the more common .999 — was a deliberate nod to the historic standard used for British silver coinage before decimalization.
Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, introduced in 1998, first appeared on Britannia silver issues that year.
