Additional information

The Falklands' coinage took on a significance well beyond its face value when Argentine forces occupied the islands in April 1982. British pounds and local Falkland currency — including this piece — were briefly displaced during the 74-day occupation, with Argentine pesos introduced by the occupying administration. Coins in circulation at the time survived the conflict largely uninterrupted; the islands' tiny population meant volumes were minimal and attrition slow.

KM#14.1 is distinguished from its successor by the larger inscription type, changed in the 1992 revision.
