The word POSTAGE appears at the top of the stamp and ONE PENNY at the bottom, with plate-position letters E and F in the lower corners. The stamp image is set within a dark recessed field, and the surrounding coin legends — including the anniversary inscription and denomination — are distributed across the upper and lower margins of the heptagonal border. |
